Open Houses (August)

Thus beginning my chronicle of open house flops, flukes and failures.
I will periodically add more information said misadventures.
Today we remember the greatness that could have been 2100 Sunset Plaza Dr.

The views are utterly stunning, but this, like most homes in Hollywood Hills is impossible to find and has some questionable design choices. (Further up Sunset Plaza is a home with a colossal Buddha head in the facade).

Let it be said that the last part of that nice terrace is cantilevered out and quite terrifying at the edge.

Here's my overall take (for what its worth):

This sucker is impossibly hard to find. This part of Hollywood seems to be a mix of upscale new money and hippie homes tucked in the canyon. It measures about 11,000 sqft of mish mosh up a steep driveway. It spans four levels and boasts a weird layout and criminal overuse of black. Standard layout opens onto nice pool deck with great pool but steep drop to street. It clings to the hill. Huge hallways twist and lead to depressing dark, dank maid’s quarters. Do they want the help to be suicidal?
The 2 story theatre is nice, access through gym is not. Its awkward. Nightclub on level 2 of theatre (level 3 of house). Master bed is large though not sexy. The house feels worn and scuffed, like a party house. Tennis court on casons is a wee bit scary in earthquake city. There is also a hookah (not hooker, mind you) room that got noted by Forbes.

Disjointed layout doesn’t work. This house stays with you for all the wrong reasons.

Oh wait, it was a party house.
